AD Macedonian Telecommunication, Republic of Macedonia
ECS has been present in AD Macedonian Telecommunication (formerly PTT Macedonia) since 1991, when mVAX 3100 with VAX/VMS was delivered and installed. In 1994 one of the first installations of 64-bit RISC architecture (Alpha) in Macedonia was performed in Macedonian Telecom, where ECS delivered and installed DEC3500x2, DEC3400 & DEC3300 servers. In 2001 ECS completed the project for implementation of a system for structured cabling based on products of the Swiss company Reichle&DeMassari. The same year ECS performed the TeMIP project that included designing and implementation of Fault Management solution for 21 Siemens EWSD Exchanges, including: Connection of 21 exchanges on Alpha server and configuration of transfer files over FTAM At the beginning of 2006, ECS was awarded a contract for supply of Reichle&DeMassari cabling equipment for the optical fiber LAN networks of Macedonian Telecom. During 2006, ECS supplied two HP RISC rx4440 servers for the needs of the project for upgrading of the SAP/R3 system of Macedonian Telecom, and another HP RISC rx4440 server for the needs of the Billing system. Both contracts include 3 year SW and HW maintenance and support. In 2007, ECS supplied equipment for the Provisioning System (HP Itanium rx6600) and for Oracle Real Application Cluster (HP Itanium rx2660 Cluster, Oracle Database Enterprise Edition and Oracle RAC licenses), with 4 years maintenance and support contracts. At the very end of 2007, ECS delivered equipment for the replacement of the Mediation System and the Disaster Recovery System (2 x HP Itanium rx7640 servers), with 4 years maintenance and support contract. ECS supported the establishment of the first mobile telephony service in the Republic of Macedonia in 1997, when, as a part of the team with Ericsson and SEMA Group delivered and installed one VAX2000 server and two Alpha Servers 2000, together with Storage Works 800, a break-through technological concept of storage solutions for that time. Within the project for establishing the Y2K compliance, ECS designed and installed ESA10000 (Enterprise Storage Area) – the largest data storing system in the country. Currently, ECS is supplying equipment and shall perform the upgrade of T-Mobile’s Alpha GS80 servers, used for their Billing System.
Stopanska Banka AD Skopje, Republic of Macedonia
In 2002 ECS signed a contract with Stopanska Banka for upgrade of the network infrastructure. The main feature of the project included backbone switch Cisco Catalyst 6509, security, consisting of PIX firewall working in failover, Intrusion Detection System, software for management - CiscoWorks, Cisco VMS and Cisco Secure.
Komercijalna Banka AD Skopje, Republic of Macedonia
In 2004 ECS participated in a creation of a hardware platform for the needs Mastercard of Komercijalna banka. In cooperation with a vendor of the software solution, the engineering team of ECS participated in the configuration, delivery, installation and maintenance of the hardware platform necessary for realization of this complex project. ECS delivered and installed a cluster of two HP servers from rp4400 series with HP-UX OS, Oracle RAC, HP rp3400 backup server and several Intel servers.
Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Macedonia - Public Revenue Office
In 1996 ECS was awarded an international World Bank tender for the project of computerization of the Public Revenue Office of the Ministry of Finance. The Project included a complete solution for the Tax information system in 32 regional offices and the main office in Skopje, based on 21 Digital Alpha Servers with UNIX OS and 10 PC servers, 250 personal computers, LAN and WAN communication between them and application solution based on Informix. In 2001, 100 notebooks were delivered for the needs of the auditors in the Public Revenue Office, as well as 410 PC computers for the needs of the Ministry of Finance.
State Statistical Office of the Republic of Macedonia
In 1999 ECS completed a project sponsored by PHARE for the technical equipment for the Statistical Office of RM with a complete WAN and LAN in the regional offices and in the headquarters in Skopje. The project included the design and installation of LANs, using FTP Cat.5 cable, produced in Macedonia (Cable factory, Negotino), installation of active LAN equipment, connection of LANs from all units in a WAN and connection to the Internet.
Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Macedonia
In the second half of year 2000 ECS finished the project for implementing an information system in the misdemeanor courts. It was a project financed by PHARE, which included 8 servers and 100 personal computers, Server, E-mail, Proxy and Firewall software from Microsoft, matrix and laser printers, uninterruptible power supplies, communication equipment and passive network components. The application part of this project covered the total solution for the misdemeanor courts. In 2001, ECS signed a contract for realizing hardware solution for the needs of the justice departments in Macedonia, through which 31 Compaq servers and 710 Compaq personal computers were delivered.
Ministry of Education of the Republic of Macedonia
During 1999 and 2000 ECS delivered and installed 500 personal computers, donated by the Technical Mission of the Republic of China, to a number of educational institutions, from primary schools to faculties.
Schools On-lineECS is especially proud that in 2001 it took part in the project Schools On-line. The goal of the project was introducing new technologies in the education by equipping several schools in the Republic with Internet rooms. This project was financed by the above-mentioned organization from USA, and under the sponsorship of the late President of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Trajkovski. Twelve Macedonian schools, in Skopje, Bitola, Kochani, Prilep, Resen, Shtip, Strumitsa and Vinitsa participated in the program. This project was carried out in partnership with MT Net. ECS provided the computer equipment and MT Net the Internet connections via leased or ISDN lines. Also, as a part of this project, a wireless connection among schools in Macedonia and Albania was established.
Vocational and Educational Training Project - KosovoIn 2004 ECS completed a project for equipping the schools and training centers for vocational education and training in Kosovo, involving European Agency for Reconstruction for Kosovo, Ministry of Education and Science, and Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare. The project included installation, configuration and system integration of servers, PCs, software, passive and active networking equipment, printers, phones, faxes, photocopiers and other office equipment.
Customs Administration of the Republic of Macedonia
Funded by World Bank, at the end of 2002, ECS won the contract for building an Integrated Customs Information System – Hardware and Software, a part of the project for the Trade and Transport Facilitation on South and East Europe (TTFSEE). The realization of the project took place during 2003 and 2004. The solution includes installation and configuration of 2 Compaq Alpha servers ES45 in cluster, backup server ES45, 282 Compaq workstations, laptops and peripheral (printers, scanners, etc.). The cluster-solution is based on Tru64 Unix OS with Oracle 9i Real Application Cluster database.
Customs Administration of the Republic of AlbaniaDuring 2004 and 2005 ECS carried out a World Bank funded project in Albania for connection of all customs offices in the country, within the Trade and Transport Facilitation on South and East Europe (TTFSEE). The project included supply, installation and configuration of various equipment, such as terrestrial and satellite communications, Intel based computers, system software etc. from different vendors (Cisco, Proxim, Plenexis, CheckPoint, Entrust, McAfee etc.).
Computerization of Moldovan Customs AdministrationIn 2005 ECS was subcontracted by HP International for the World Bank funded project for computerization of the Moldovan Customs Administration, realized as a part of the Trade and Transport Facilitation on South and East Europe (TTFSEE). ECS took part in the supply of Oracle licenses and organization of Oracle training.
Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Macedonia
At the beginning of 2005 ECS signed a contract with the European Agency for Reconstruction for realization of a project for delivery, installation and configuration of Telecommunications Equipment Infrastructure for interconnection of all border crossings on the territory of the Republic of Macedonia with the central locations of the Border Police. The solution is based on Cisco, HP, Marconi and Nera products. The project was completed by the end of 2005.
Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning of KosovoAt the end of 2005 and the beginning of 2006 ECS realized a project for the needs of the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning of Kosovo, financed through the European Agency for Reconstruction, for an Environmental Data Management System (EDMS) based on Environmental Information System (EIS) linked to a Geographic Information System (GIS). The project comprises implementation of software tools (MapInfo, MS SQL и .NET) and integration in the existing environment, as well as training.
Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Macedonia – Directorate for Prevention of Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism
At the beginning of 2006 ECS was awarded a contract by the European Agency for Reconstruction for supplying a complete solution covering the needs of the Agency for Prevention of Money Laundering. ECS acts as a system integrator for several different HW, communication and SW vendors, providing installation of hardware, communication equipment, database management system, analysis and investigation tools, document management system, security, data exchange with banks and external agencies etc. This project enabled strengthening of the capacities and automation of the internal business processes of the Agency for Prevention of Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism. The implemented IT equipment includes: Case Management System, Application for document and workflow management (Xerox Docushare), Systems security based on Cisco, CheckPoint, Entrust and Aladdin technologies, IT infrastructure based on HP, Cisco, Microsoft, Oracle Database and Oracle Application Server, as well as and analytic tools (i2, Oracle Business Intelligence and SPSS). In 2006 ECS was chosen by the European Agency for Reconstruction for the realization of the project for Central Database of Municipal Urban Plans. The solution consists of design, development, implementation and user training for a web-based application and related software products (Mapinfo, Oracle). Office of Judiciary Administration of KosovoDuring the second half of 2006, ECS together with two other companies started with the realization of a EU funded project, for technical assistance to the Office of Judiciary Administration in Kosovo. The project includes support to the Office in the process of automation of functioning of 5 District, 25 Municipal, 25 Minor Offence Courts and Prosecutors Offices, development and implementation of a CMIS application, training of IT Administrators and end-users, upgrade of the existing Kosovo Legal Lexicon etc. The project was completed at the end of 2007.
State Authority for Geodetic Works, Republic of Macedonia

Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia
Within the project for the upgrade and reconstruction of the existing network infrastructure of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, in December 2007 ECS was selected on a public tender to deliver, install and put into operation active (Cisco routers, switches, ASA) and passive (R&M) network equipment. This project is financed from the State budget, and it was completed during the first quarter of 2008. CableTel Macedonia
For the needs of the backbone/distribution network for the provisioning of cable TV services of one of the biggest cable TV providers in the country, CableTel Macedonia, at the end of 2007 and the beginning of 2008, ECS entered into a contract for delivery, installation and putting into operation of Cisco equipment (switches and UBRs). The first phase of the project was completed in the beginning of 2008. The next phases ware completed during 2008. Gama Power Systems Inc.
Gama Power Systems Inc. is builder of the first gas power station in the Republic of Macedonia for production of electrical power, i.e. for production of ecological clean energy. The entire investment in this energy plant is 160 mio. € and it is considered as one of the major investments in the energy sector in Macedonia. State University “Goce Delcev”- Stip
Within the project for building the new network infrastructure for the needs of the newly established State University Goce Deltchev – Stip, in June 2008, ECS has signed a contract for supply and installation of passive network equipment, which enabled network connections on fourteen Faculties and four Institutes within the University. The project includes delivery, installation and cabling of passive network (R&M cables, Legrand plastic ducts, accompanying connections, elements and products). This project is financed from the State budget, and it was completed in July 2008.
Capital Bank AD Skopje, Republic of Macedonia
In 2008 ECS started cooperation with Capital bank, for which it delivered computer-communication equipment for the needs of the core banking system. The equipment includes servers (5 HP ProLiant DL360 Generation 5 servers), rack with accessories, UPSs, 35 desktops and notebooks, Microsoft licenses, network equipment (Cisco 2821 and Cisco 1841 routers) etc. Apart from the supply and installation, ECS provides support and maintenance, having in mind the requirements for high availability of this equipment for the continuous functioning of the bank. Procredit Bank AD Skopje, Republic of Macedonia
During 2008 Procredit Bank also became one of the client of ECS, first through the delivery of 1000 Aladdin e-tokens for strong authentication, and afterwards with the supply of server (2 HP ProLiant DL320 servers) and other equipment for the needs of the bank’s branches.
Employment Service Agency of the Republic of Macedonia
In mid 2008 ECS was awarded by the European Agency for Reconstruction with the contract for the realization of the Information system of the Employment Agency of RM. The project comprised supply, installation and configuration of server equipment (12 HP DL360R05 servers), 2 racks with accessories, 2 HP 2012fc DC Modular Smart Array storages, 2 HP StorageWorks 4/8 SAN Switches, 2 UPSs, Cisco ASA 5510, Microsoft Windows Server, SQL, Exchange and ISA, Veritas Backup Exec, Sophos antivirus software etc. The project was completed at the beginning of 2009.
General Secretariat of the Government of the Republic Of Macedonia
During 2008, ECS signed a contract for delivery, installation and putting into operation of IT equipment for the needs of General Secretariat of the Government of the Republic Of Macedonia. This project comprises delivery of 60 desktops (HP Compaq dx2400), 45 printers (including scanners and multifunction devices), 8 servers (HP DL380G5), storage (MSA2000), rack mounted. The value of the project is 75,000€ and it was completed in September 2008.
Secretariat for European Affairs of the Republic of Macedonia
In December 2008 ECS signed a contract for delivery, installation, configuration and support of server equipment for the needs of the IS for Integrated Border Management. The system for IBM comprises the National Coordinative Center for Border Management and 12 state agencies (Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of finance – Customs Directorate, Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Transportation and Communication, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning, Ministry of Local Self-government, Directorate of Radiation Protection, Directorate of Personal Data Protection, Directorate of Safety of Classified Information) that participate in supervision of the legality of entries and exits of people, goods and transport vehicles, prevention and discovery of organized crime, prevention of individuals and those who commited crimes and all kinds of smuggling across the borders , control and prevention of transfer of materials and contagious diseases which endanger people and goods. The equipment for IBM comprises 33 HP DL380R05 servers, 13 racks and accessories, 13 UPSs, HP EVA4400 Dual Controller Array external storage, HP StorageWorks 4/8 SAN Switch, Microsoft licenses, Veritas software etc. The project was completed in February 2009. |
